Aftercare
How to keep your nails and your new tattoo looking their best.
Nails
- Use cuticle oil often
It nourishes cuticles and helps prevent chipping.
- Wear gloves
When washing up or cleaning. Water and chemicals damage gel polish and skin.
- Avoid soaking
Long hot baths raise the risk of chipping.
- Nails are not tools
Use scissors for stubborn packaging, or ask someone for help.
- Don’t pick or peel
Peeling takes layers of nail with it. Soak it off properly or book a removal.
- 3–4 weeks max
Wearing gel longer leads to breakage and chipping.
Tattoo
- Follow your artist
Your artist will give you aftercare instructions. Follow them first.
- Keep it clean
Wash gently with unscented soap and lukewarm water, then pat dry with a clean paper towel.
- Thin layer of cream
Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream 2–3 times a day.
- No soaking, no sun
Skip baths, pools, sea and sauna for 2 weeks and keep the tattoo out of direct sun.
- Don’t scratch
Let flakes fall off on their own. Message your artist if anything worries you.
